Free For 2s Programme
The Free For 2s programme is a government-funded initiative for children whose parents receive various income-based benefits, to give low-income families the opportunity to access high-quality nursery provision, either as a school-readiness programme, to support them in returning to work, or both.
Children become eligible for the programme in the term after their second birthday, and remain eligible until the term in which they turn three. Children remain eligible for Free For 2s even if their family circumstances change while they are on the programme (for example if one parent starts work, having previously been claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance.)
At Welbourne Children’s Centre, we offer the Free For 2s programme every day between 9:00am and 12:00pm, for up to 30 children. Regrettably, we don’t have any flexibility around the days and times, although other Free For 2s providers will have. Places are offered on a first-come-first-served basis, and we do not maintain a waiting list.
If you have received a letter from Haringey Council (or another participating local authority,) saying that your child is eligible for the Free For 2s programme, come into the centre to see us, or call us on 020 8493 1197. We may have a place in our nursery provision, and if not we can signpost you to provisions in the local area that do have places available.
If you are a Haringey resident, and you want to apply for the Free For 2s programme, or to check your child’s eligibility, you can apply for it by clicking this link (Welbourne is not responsible for the contents of external websites).
