School

The classroom doors open from 8.45am to allow children to come in calmly and be ready for learning. Our day officially begins at 8.55am when staff take the register and learning starts promptly. We expect all children to be on time every day. However, if a child is late, they need to report to the school office to be registered before making their way to the classroom. School ends at 3.30pm.

Children are at school for 32 hours and 55 minutes per week.

Attendance and Punctuality

Good attendance at school is an essential part of an excellent education. We want children attending school every day.

As part of our aspiration to keep our attendance figures high, we have weekly attendance and punctuality awards at our Monday assembly. The classes in KS1 and KS2 with the best attendance are recognised and awarded.

Individual pupils are recognised termly for 100% attendance at an end of term assembly.

We understand that we all get ill from time to time. We encourage all children, and adults, to carefully assess whether their illness warrants staying at home. Parents and carers clearly need to support their child in making this assessment. We can all usually continue to attend school when we have a cold.

If you do feel your child needs to stay at home due to illness, we ask that you notify the school ASAP. If your child is absent, and we have not heard from you, a member of our admin team may contact you. If your child has been absent from school for a number of days, or has had frequent periods of illness, we will also ask for evidence that you have sought medical support for your child.

We do not authorise holidays in term time. You may request special leave for your child during term time using our form. We ask that these request forms are filled in with as much notice as possible so we can give them proper consideration. We will only authorise leave during term time in exceptional circumstances. Unauthorised leave during term time can lead to referral to our Education Welfare Officer and/or a fine.
